Tina Bradley Mayers, PGA

TinaMayers

Tina has over 25 years’ experience as a PGA teaching professional. As a kid growing up in Houston, Texas, she was exposed to golf by her father, Jackson Bradley, who was the Head Golf Professional at River Oaks Country Club, and at the end of his career he retired from Austin Country Club.

In her youth, she spent countless hours watching her dad hit balls and play the game. Eventually, she found herself following his career path as a club professional. She got her start in Austin, Texas. Along the way, she was blessed to have other wonderful mentors – especially my husband, Buck Mayers who helped me understand the golf swing and more importantly, develop a way to communicate to golfers of all levels as they embark on the journey to lower scores.

She was voted of of the TOP 50 female instructors by Texas Women’s Golf Texas Magazine. She was the Head Teaching Professional at the Grey Rock Golf Academy at Grey Rock Golf Club, Austin, Texas and an instructor for the Chuck Cook Golf Academy at Barton Creek Resort, Austin, Texas. She was the Director of Instruction at TOP GOLF, Austin, Texas

Tina is currently the Head Golf Professional, Slick Rock Course, Horseshoe Bay Resort, Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

Eddie L. Barnes

EdBarnes

Ed Barnes is the owner of the Golf Lab in Cottonwood Shores, Texas. Cottonwood Shores is located adjacent to Horeseshoe Bay. He is a well-known and respected golf instructor.

Ed has been involved golf for years and was fortunate to have the skills, and work ethic, to become a scratch golfer. His lowest GHIN Handicap index was a plus 4. Being a low handicap golfer does not necessarily mean you are or can be a good golf coach, any more than it means a good football player can be a good football coach—it’s another acquired skill. However, golfers began seeking out Ed for advice about their swings and on how to hit certain shots. At one point, during giving someone a tip, he realized he did have some knowledge of how the golf swing worked, but if he really wanted to embrace the idea of teaching and coaching he needed to get better by learning more. He began by purchasing and studying each known teacher he could find. Jim McLean, David Ledbetter, Butch Harmon, Doug Tewell and the Square to Square method. He compiled instruction article after instruction article from the different golf magazines. He learned every detail from the videos. He studied still–frame swing sequences of not only the best golfers in the world, but also of average golfers.

As he consolidated his notes he realized each one of the top instructors basically taught the same thing! And, it was exactly how he was taught. Not only by his mentor, Clyde Foch Posey, at the Clovis, New Mexico Municipal Golf Course, but all of the teachers he had taken lessons from over the years. From this Ed developed his teaching philosophy. KISS, Keep It Square and Simple.
